Partner Event Reservation(s)

Texas Tropical Trail Region will host its next Partner Event in Bayside/Sinton Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. Join us for a day of history and preservation stories!

Here is the tentative agenda:

9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Welcome at the Wood Mansion, 533 Copano Bay Dr, Bayside, Texas 78340

Light refreshments to be provided.

9:30 a.m. Presentation and tour of the Wood Mansion

John Howland Wood was among 40 New Yorkers who traveled to Texas to fight for its independence. He fought at San Jacinto and helped bury James Walker Fannin Jr.’s men at Goliad. Later, Wood had his home built in what is now Bayside, Texas. That was in 1875. That mansion stands today and is being restored after it was severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. The site is a national historical site.

11:15 a.m. Sinton Historical Museum, 116 W Sinton St, Sinton, Texas 78387

The Sinton Historical Museum’s mission is to collect and preserve artifacts related to the early settlers of Sinton and their descendants, while educating the public and future generations about local history and its role in the story of Texas.

Partners will receive a brief visual overview of Sinton area history and a presentation by Randy Bissell. Bissell is a retired petroleum geologist, Texas Licensed Professional Geoscientist and adjunct geology instructor (teaching paleontology) at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. He combines geology, paleontology, and coastal ecology to interpret the natural and cultural history of South Texas.

Optional scavenger hunts while exploring the museum are encouraged.

12 p.m. Lunch at Butter Churn, 207 W Sinton St, Sinton, Texas 78387

Enjoy a variety of comfort food at the buffet.

1 p.m. LUXE Realty Group at the former Sinton State Bank, 201 E Sinton St, Sinton, Texas 78387

2 p.m. Texas Tropical Trail Region Board Meeting at the Sinton Chamber of Commerce, 218 W Sinton St, Sinton, Texas 78387
