USS Lexington/Corpus Christi (Nueces County)
Eventful Day Aboard the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi!
We began our day on the USS Lexington with a welcome from Cynthia Adrian, Sales Manager. We then enjoyed coffee and doughnuts on the Mess Deck before setting out on our individual self-guided tours of the museum.
We all met back in the ship’s Wardroom (formerly the Officer’s dining room) at noon to enjoy a wonderful lunch catered by On the Bay that included cloth tablecloths and napkins and wait staff persons keeping our water/tea glasses filled and tables clean.
After a wonderful chocolate cake dessert, educational programs were presented by Retired Navy Captain F.W. “Rocco” Montesano, Executive Director of the Museum, (“History of the USS Lexington” and “Behind the Scenes in filming the 2001 movie Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Lexington”), Kimberly Lemley, Corpus Christi Film Commissioner and Vice President/Group & Leisure Travel, Corpus Christi CVB, (“Filming Opportunities in the Coastal Bend Area”) and Lane Hollingsworth, Texas Tropical Trail Regional Coordinator (“A Brief Preview of the Texas Friendly Hospitality Workshop”).
