Padre Island National Seashore (Kleberg County)

A Beach Walk & Sea Turtles at the Padre Island National Seashore!

We began our day with a welcome from Park Superintendent Joe Escota followed by an informative presentation by Dr.Donna Shaver, Chief of the Sea Turtle Science and Recovery Lab & Texas Coordinator of the Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network. Following Dr. Shaver’s presentation, we toured the Sea Turtle Laboratory.

After a picnic lunch on the covered porch of the Visitors Center overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, we enjoyed  presentations by Juan Rodriguez (Chief of Interpretation at Padre Island National Seashore) about “The History of Line Camp and the Patrick Dunn Ranch” and Chelsea Aldrich (Park Ranger) about “Native Americans on Padre Island  National Seashore”.

An optional Beach Walk, conducted by Park Ranger William “Buzz” Botts was held during the Business Meeting.
