Plans

We’ll begin our day at the Laredo TXDOT Travel Information Center (956 417-4128) located on I-35N four miles north of the Laredo city limits.  There we’ll enjoy refreshments provided by the Laredo CVB, take a tour of the facility and hear presentations from the Travel Information Center staff and the Laredo CVB staff.
From there we’ll drive to the San Agustin de Laredo Historic District near the La Posada Hotel to the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum located at 810 Zaragoza Street.  While there, we’ll take a walking tour, “Ghost Walk”, near San Agustin Plaza.  We’ll also have time to visit the “Haunted Heritage” exhibit at Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum.
Our next stop will be La India Packing Company, a family-owned business since 1924 specializing in herbs, spices, tea bags and chocolate, located at 1520 Marcella Avenue.  Their spices and seasonings include Tejano seasoning, orange pepper, pineapple pepper, roasted garlic pepper, fajita lemon, pica rico seasoning and more. Other products are cookbooks, herb books, molcajetes (small bowl to grind spices or for salsa/guacamole), tea infusers and potpourri.

We’ll not only enjoy lunch at La India but also have the opportunity for some shopping as well.
